Taqqut is committed to bringing the stories of the North to the world!

Taqqut Productions Inc. is an Inuit-owned film production company located in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Taqqut is committed to bringing the stories of the North to the world and aims to establish itself as an innovative leader of youth and children’s programming. Taqqut has developed several film and television projects, its production experience includes; live-action, stop motion animation, 2D animation, and puppets. It also provides other project production services, such as web design, marketing, and technical writing. 

The company’s short films have screened at festivals all over the world and have won over thirty international awards. Taqqut Productions completed production on season two of the television series, Anaana’s Tent, which first premiered on APTN in spring 2018. Season three is in production and is expected to air on APTN in 2022. In its first season, Anaana’s Tent was nominated for the Award of Excellence for Best Program, Live Action Scripted (Preschool 3-5) at the Youth Media Alliance and host, Rita-Claire Mike Murphy, was awarded the 2019 Emerging Talent Award at the Youth Media Alliance. 

In addition to Anaana’s Tent, Taqqut has also begun production on a new television series, Tundra Friends hosted by Susan Aglukark. Taqqut has had great success with many recent short films including Giant Bear, which was awarded Best Animated Short at the 2020 Canadian Screen Awards. Their recent stop-motion short film, The Shaman’s Apprentice has been widely recognized throughout the film festival circuit, receiving many reputable awards including IMDb Short Cuts’ Best Canadian Film Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, the FIPRESCI Award at the 2021 Annecy International Animated Film Festival, and was shortlisted for 2022 Oscar nominations.
